Live Action Star Blazers Movie

I just heard that the live action version of Space Battleship Yamato recently came out in Japan. It's based on the 70's era Manga/Anime series of the same name. I think I blogged about this on the WordPress site, when I saw the teaser trailer earlier this year. This is one of my must-see movies of 2010, right next to TRON: Legacy!

No word if yet if there's going to be a release of the movie in America. Although I'm positive that will come to pass... eventually. Especially since they got Steven Tyler (of Aerosmith) preforming the films theme song, "Love Lives"

The story: In the distant future... Earth has come under attack by an alien race (Called The Gamalons in the US version.) In turn, the Earth Defense Force rebuild a decommissioned WWII Battleship and turn it into a star-cruiser in order to fight back. Just to sum it up... the plot runs much deeper.

As a kid, I used to watch the U.S. version of the anime, which was re-titled STAR BLAZERS.

As the program was serialized, it aired during the week. I was religious about getting home from school in time in order to watch it on Channel 2. I didn't want to miss one episode!

The series stays relevant to me because Star Blazers was also one of the few animated shows (That actually was broadcast.) that wasn't shy about depicting death and destruction. True, most Japanese cartoons contain violence, but not many changes were made to the US version of Yamato as I recall... and that was a good thing! :)

Here's the trailer for the new production. It's in Japanese, but it's visually stunning. (imo)

A holiday tale for all...

This WB cartoon short is the story of a chapter in my life. (Not literally! Read between the lines.) A few of my followers MIGHT know what I'm making reference to...

Otherwise, just enjoy the animation. It's funny!

I'll be back with you soon. Enjoy your holiday. ;-)

Dealing With Anger...

To my followers,
Occasionally, there are issues and circumstances in my life that put me in a very fowl state of mind. Sometimes I react... in one fashion or another. Usually I vent my frustrations online, either on my blog, Facebook, Twitter or wherever. My remarks can range from snide to very very disturbing... sometimes to the point where readers (who have little to no idea what I'm talking about) are ready to contact my local authorities.

I can offer no reasonable excuse for this behavior, but I'm not apologizing for anything either. I'm only human, so I'm entitled to verbal outbursts if that's what it takes to cool my rage. I think it's healthier for myself and all involved if I vent my anger in cyberspace as opposed to settling my disputes in an off-line confrontation.

The point to this post:
Whenever I have acted-out in ANY electronic forum... I have NEVER stated any intent to bring psychical harm to any real-life individual, nor have I threatened to perpetrate any criminal acts. In reality, I am a very reasonable/civil person. I have never served a day in any Correctional Institution, and I have no intentions of starting now...

No comment or post I submit online should be taken seriously, nor as a threat to any person or parties.

Over time, I have gotten better at finding more positive means to channel my aggressions and I'll continue to make strides in this manner.

Thank You for reading.

AudioBlog - The Reboot

It's been a while since I did any blogs... so I'm taking the time to reintroduce myself. This edition of the podcast will also mark my shift from Firstborn Insights WordPress site (Which has been suspended indefinitely.) to this one on Blogger. I explain why I'm making these changes in the show.

From now on this site, www.firstbornweb.blogspot.com will be my primary online presence. All posts submitted here will be suitable for listeners of all ages.

I kind of recorded this podcast at the spur of the moment, I didn't plan to do one tonight. It's been a while like I mentioned, so forgive me if I'm a little rusty. There are also still a few technical tweeks that I need to make to my RSS feeds, so listeners will be able to subscribe to the newer program in iTunes or whatever other podcatcher.

I don't know how often I'll be able to get a show up. Ideally, I'd like to do this at least once or twice a month. In the meantime I will strive to make this program as positive and entertaining as I'm able.

Thank You for visiting Firstborn Insights, and I hope you enjoy it. :)

QuickCast - May 23, 2010

I was walking around my neighborhood while I was recording this. Sorry for the crummy background noise. Just some catch-up.

Also, I had intended to post this on my main Firstborn Insights feed, but embedding tends to be a chore with Wordpress.
